Rolly starts the day with a cracker 23/12/2008
Well we gave the island a miss and decided to go off shore for a change but all we caught were congers around the 20lb mark so we decided to go off further still . This move soon payed dividends as Rolly caught a nice starry smooth hound to kick start the day with . Then the tide started pushing and we were on 2lb of lead pluss but still the fish kept comming with congers , pollock and whiting putting up some good scraps in the tide. We decided to move inshore at slack water to fish the flood tide with lighter tackle . About 2hrs after the move Tommy latched into the cod which we had been searching for throughout the day so the plan payed off in the end.

Left to right R Biggs jnr , Rolly (the absent minded plumber) Biggs and Tommy (viagra) Smith with some of the catch . In total they caught 6 Cod up to 17lb 7oz , 2 Bass , 4 Congers up to 52lb and the useuall dogs, pout, and whitting. A great day out but with very cold conditions to start with helped along with a fresh north easterly wind. You know that , when you have to put your hands in a bucket of sea water to warm them up. The weather then improved from lunchtime onwards and turned into a glorious afternoon and evening. A realy good day's fishing which now takes our tally of cod up to 37 in ten trips .
