Rolly starts the day with a cracker 23/12/2008

Well we gave the island a miss and decided to go off shore for a change but all we caught were congers around the 20lb mark so we decided to go off further still . This move soon payed dividends as Rolly caught a nice starry smooth hound to kick start the day with . Then the tide started pushing and we were on 2lb of lead pluss but still the fish kept comming with congers , pollock and whiting putting up some good scraps in the tide. We decided to move inshore at slack water to fish the flood tide with lighter tackle . About 2hrs after the move Tommy latched into the cod which we had been searching for throughout the day so the plan payed off in the end.

Our man Tommy tangles 23/12/2008

Our top man of the day Tommy Tangles with the only cod caught but he also had a 10.3lb Pollock, 59lb conger which the old sod could'nt lift so we had to photograph it in the net, and a cod which weighed in at 8.2lb plus a few whiting for good measure

Nice end to the day 23/12/2008

A Carlsberg day for the workmans 14/12/2008

Three of the lads before they hit the port bottle on the way home with some of the fish caught throughout the day , 3 cod up to 10.5 lb ,1 pollock 8.3lb, 3 congers up to 30lb and 1 spotted ray and the useuall bits and bobs. Rolland on the right had 2 of the cod and all the congers which gave him something to smile about
That now makes 46 cod in 14 trips

A foggy Isle of Wight 14/12/2008

A start to another cold day

Just look at the state of that coat 10/12/2008

One of the visitors we had today

....Please take this fish oh wise skipper 10/12/2008

Mr DannyFox one of the three wise men with the only cod of the day but still another to the tally .We had plenty of action with the channel whiting as they were in abundance all day . The weather was a fresh norwesterly for the whole day and very cold. Mr Rolly Bigs also had an offering of a nice thornback ray of 11lb 9oz which was released.

Just the two then 07/12/2008

Well we keep trying for the big one but its not happening at this time. Cold start to the day but what great weather followed with a rubbish tide. The bites were hard to come by with the lack of tide and even the pout and dogs didn't want to play. By the end of the day we had winkled out two which was nearly as difficult as getting rolly to share his lunch, but with a stunning sunset to finish with it made a good day memorable . Total now 42 in twelve trips

Three unwise men 06/12/2008

Another 3 cod for the day and 2 rays and the useuall bits and bobs which now makes a total of 40 cod in eleven trips .Very cold conditions to start with but the weather and the fishing improved through the day with the flood tide.

Three wise men 3/12/2008

Left to right R Biggs jnr , Rolly (the absent minded plumber) Biggs and Tommy (viagra) Smith with some of the catch . In total they caught 6 Cod up to 17lb 7oz , 2 Bass , 4 Congers up to 52lb and the useuall dogs, pout, and whitting. A great day out but with very cold conditions to start with helped along with a fresh north easterly wind. You know that , when you have to put your hands in a bucket of sea water to warm them up. The weather then improved from lunchtime onwards and turned into a glorious afternoon and evening. A realy good day's fishing which now takes our tally of cod up to 37 in ten trips .

The skipper with the fish of the day 3/12/2008
